As with any religious festival, Diwali is surrounded by numerous beliefs, customs, and traditions. One such tradition is Muhurat Trading.
In this article, we will explore this tradition and everything you need to know about the timing of Muhurat Trading.
What is Muhurat Trading?
Before defining Muhurat Trading, let’s first understand the term ‘Muhurat.’ The word ‘Muhurat’ refers to an auspicious time. In Hindu customs, a Muhurat is a moment when planetary alignments are considered favorable, leading to positive outcomes.
Muhurat Trading is a widely observed ritual among traders in India. It consists of a one-hour period deemed auspicious on Diwali for investing in shares. Each year, the stock exchange announces the specific time for Muhurat Trading.
According to tradition, those who trade during this hour are believed to have a greater chance of acquiring wealth and prosperity throughout the year. This trading period typically occurs in the evening of Diwali, and many individuals choose to buy stocks as a way to honor Goddess Lakshmi.
